LG ThinQ + LGSC
Owner installs, FOTA, the Download Jig, and the error-code master
The two LG paths: what the owner can do in ThinQ, and what the technician does in LGSC — wireless FOTA updates, the Download Jig for machines that cannot take an over-the-air image, and the error-code master that turns a code into a circuit.

What you will be able to do
- Separate the ThinQ owner update path from the LGSC technician path
- Record T1 and T2 versions on a washer before and after a FOTA update
- Describe the refrigerator software-rewriter jig path and where the image comes from
- State why phone flashing tools have no place on an appliance
- Wait out a failed FOTA instead of pulling power
Two doors, one machine
ThinQ is the owner's door. It joins the machine to the network, shows cycles and offers firmware installs the owner can accept. On many calls, asking the customer to open ThinQ and accept a pending install resolves the complaint before you unpack a meter.
LGSC is the technician's door — reached through LG's service portal, CSportal and LGrepair.com/apps. It carries the wireless FOTA update path, the Download Jig procedure and the error-code master. It needs your shop's LG service credentials; if you do not hold them, this path is not available to you and saying so is the honest answer.
The error-code master is a diagnostic, not a dictionary
LG's error-code master maps a displayed code to the circuit and the expected values for that model family. Used properly it replaces guessing: the code names the circuit, the master names the reading, and your meter decides.
Codes also move between software versions. A code that behaves oddly on an old image is one more reason to record versions before you chase the circuit.
Appliance tools only
LG phones use KDZ files and LGUP. Those tools belong to phones. They are not an appliance path, they will not help you, and using them on an appliance control is not a procedure this Academy will teach.
The appliance equivalents are FOTA through LGSC and the official software-rewriter jig, whose image is obtained from LGSC for the model family you are working on.

What's open and what needs access
- Open to everyone: program details, the module outline, learning paths, pricing, and the free preview lab (Washer Not Draining) end to end. Any certificate already issued stays verifiable permanently.
- Needs active access (Full Academy or Commercial Pro): the rest of the Interactive Labs, module progression, learning-path progress, certificate earning, and the learner portal features under /learn.
Washer Not Draining stays free — run it end to end before you buy.
Safety and boundaries
- Unplug or lock out and tag before any panel comes off.
- Do not unplug a unit mid-FOTA; a failed update may leave it dark for around fifteen minutes and recover.
- No sealed-system refrigerant work without EPA 608 certification.
- LGSC access requires proper OEM or shop credentials.
- FixGrid hosts no OEM firmware binaries, and phone flashing tools are never taught here.
- FixGrid Academy does not issue EPA, NATE or NABCEP cards.
